Scrap metal weapons manufacturing (Queensland, Australia)

“While the search of a Mount Nathan property allegedly uncovered a domestically made shotgun and pistol, seven domestically made firearm barrels, plans and items used to manufacture firearms, as well as ammunition.

The investigation was brought to QPS attention by the Australian Border Force, which identified items of interest being imported through air and sea cargo between 2018 and 2023. A 72-year-old Mount Nathan man has been charged with one count each of unlawfully possessing Category H weapons and manufacturing Category H weapons whilst not licenced (handgun). “- Queensland Police

Australian gun laws are such a fucking joke. A guy of similar age got done for making his own guns over in the UK, and they helped him apply for a license, and we all know how fucked the Brits are when it comes to weapons.

This dude’s likely gonna do actual time for this, admittedly probably not too long (hopefully not longer than a year), but it’s a shame nonetheless. Good thing he didn’t shoot someone breaking into his house, or he’d be down on murder charges. Self defence doesn’t exist in Australia – if someone is breaking into your house looking to harm you, they’ve got more rights than you do. You may as well offer them a cup of coffee whilst you show them where your valuables are, just make sure it’s not too hot, or you’ll be charged and taken to court for damages…

Do Aussies not understand their own heritage anymore? Australia is the one place in the world where I would expect burying the bodies of home invaders to be a tradition and a social event.
